Why Choose My Agility Classes?

My agility classes in Northamptonshire are about far more than jumps and tunnels. It’s about building confidence, teamwork, communication and trust while having enormous fun together. Whether you want to compete or you’re simply looking for an exciting hobby, agility is a fantastic way to strengthen your relationship with your dog.

Most healthy dogs can enjoy agility. Whether your goal is to compete or simply have fun, exercises can be adapted to suit your dog’s age, confidence and experience. Young puppies begin with foundations and body awareness rather than jumping.

Agility Classes – Frequently Asked Questions

Can any dog do agility?

Most healthy dogs can enjoy agility. Whether you’re looking for a fun hobby or have ambitions to compete, exercises can be adapted to suit your dog’s age, confidence and ability.

Can puppies do agility?

Yes, but puppies won’t be jumping full height equipment. Young dogs start by learning foundation skills such as body awareness, confidence, focus and teamwork, giving them the best possible start before introducing jumping when they’re physically mature.

Do I need to have done agility before?

Not at all. My classes welcome complete beginners as well as those with previous experience. I’ll guide you and your dog through each stage at a pace that suits you both.

Do I have to compete?

Absolutely not. Many people simply enjoy agility as a fun activity to strengthen the bond with their dog, improve fitness and provide mental stimulation. If you do decide you’d like to compete, I’ll be happy to help you work towards that goal too.

Is agility suitable for nervous or reactive dogs?

In many cases, yes. Agility can be a fantastic confidence-building activity. Depending on your dog’s individual needs, we can discuss whether one-to-one sessions or a group class would be the best place to start.

What should I bring to my first session?

Please bring plenty of tasty training treats, a favourite toy if your dog enjoys playing, a flat collar or harness, and a non retractable lead. Most importantly, bring plenty of enthusiasm – we’ll take care of the rest!

What will my dog learn besides agility?

Agility is about much more than jumps and tunnels. Your dog will develop confidence, body awareness, focus, self control and teamwork, all of which carry over into everyday life as well as the sport itself.

Looking for Another Way to Have Fun Together?

Agility is just one of the many ways you can enjoy training with your dog. If you’re looking to build different skills or try something new, you might also enjoy:

🐾 Trick Training – Develop confidence, communication and problem-solving through fun, rewarding games.

🐾 Canicross – Keep fit with your dog while building teamwork and enjoying the outdoors together.

🐾 Scent Work – Harness your dog’s incredible sense of smell through engaging search activities that mentally tire and enrich them.

🐾 Gundog Training – Improve focus, self-control and teamwork through enjoyable training exercises suitable for a wide range of breeds.

If you’re not sure which activity would suit you and your dog best, get in touch and I’ll be happy to help you choose the right place to start.

It doesn’t feel like training and is lots of fun. It is also good to be with people and dogs who are in the same position as you-and able to share progress and successes.
