Dog Behaviour & Reactivity Training

Reactive dog training in Northamptonshire is about far more than stopping unwanted behaviour. It’s about helping you and your dog enjoy life together again.

Living with a dog that struggles with behaviour can be incredibly isolating. You may find yourself avoiding walks because they’re stressful, or perhaps other people avoid you because they’re worried about your dog’s behaviour. Visitors stop coming to your house, everyday life becomes exhausting, and it can feel as though you’re facing it all on your own. Over time, that stress can begin to affect the relationship between you and your dog, leaving both of you frustrated, anxious and no longer enjoying the life you should be sharing together. The good news is that it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Whether your dog is reactive towards people or other dogs, struggles with aggression, anxiety, confidence or separation issues, I’ll work with you to understand why those behaviours are happening and help you build practical skills that create lasting change.

My Approach

I don’t believe in simply suppressing unwanted behaviour. My aim is to understand why your dog is behaving that way and to teach both you and your dog the skills needed to make better choices. Using games based, reward based training, we’ll build confidence, reduce stress and create lasting change that works in everyday life.

What to Expect

Your first session isn’t about judging you or your dog. It’s about understanding what’s happening and why. I’ll take the time to listen to your concerns, assess your dog’s behaviour, and explain what I believe is driving it. From there, we’ll put together a realistic training plan that fits into your everyday life, so you leave with practical exercises, a clear direction and the confidence to start making progress straight away.

Frequently Asked Questions

My dog has bitten someone. Can you still help?

Yes. Many dogs displaying aggressive behaviour can improve with the right training and management. Every case is different, so we’ll begin by assessing your dog’s behaviour before putting together a tailored training plan.

How many sessions will my dog need?

Every dog is different. Some owners notice significant improvements after just a few sessions, while more complex behaviour cases may require ongoing support. I’ll always be honest about what I think is realistic for you and your dog.

Will you use punishment or harsh training methods?

No. My approach is based on understanding why your dog is behaving the way they are and teaching them more appropriate responses through reward based training, management and clear communication.

Where do behaviour sessions take place?

Sessions take place wherever is most appropriate for your dog’s needs. This may be at my secure training field, in your local area or another suitable location where we can safely work on the behaviours you’re experiencing.

My dog is reactive. Is it safe to attend?

Absolutely. Safety is always my priority. Sessions are carefully planned around your dog’s individual needs to ensure they can learn without becoming overwhelmed.
