Puppy Training Northamptonshire

Give Your Puppy the Best Possible Start

The first few months of your puppy’s life are some of the most important. Building confidence, good habits and a strong relationship from the very beginning helps prevent many behaviour problems later in life. My puppy training classes in Northamptonshire are designed to give both you and your puppy the skills, understanding and confidence to enjoy life together while creating strong foundations for the future.

Why Puppy Training Matters

The first few months with your puppy are about much more than teaching sit and down. This is the time when they’re learning about the world around them, developing confidence and forming habits that can last a lifetime.

My classes focus on creating calm, confident puppies who are able to think, make good choices and enjoy learning. Using fun, reward based games, we’ll help your puppy develop the skills they need to grow into a happy, well-adjusted adult dog.

Whether your goal is a well-mannered family companion or a dog that goes on to enjoy activities such as agility, gundog, scent work or trick training, everything starts with strong foundations.

Good puppy training isn’t about creating the perfect puppy. It’s about building the skills that help your puppy grow into a confident, well mannered adult dog.

What You’ll Learn

Every puppy develops at their own pace, so training is always tailored to suit the individual dog. Throughout the course, you and your puppy will learn the foundations for a lifetime of success, including:

🐾 Building focus and engagement around distractions.

🐾 Recall games that make coming back fun and reliable.

🐾 Loose lead walking without pulling.

🐾 Confidence building through positive, reward based training.

🐾 Calmness, relaxation and learning how to switch off.

🐾 Appropriate social skills and understanding how to interact politely with other dogs.

🐾 Handling exercises to prepare your puppy for grooming and veterinary visits.

🐾 Preventing common behaviour problems before they become established.

🐾 Games that develop problem solving, resilience and a love of learning.

🐾 Strong foundations for future activities such as agility, scent work, gundog training, trick training and everyday life skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my puppy start classes?

Puppies can usually begin once they’ve had their initial vaccinations and your vet is happy for them to attend classes. If you’re unsure, please get in touch and I’ll be happy to advise.

What should I bring to class?

Please bring plenty of tasty training treats, a flat collar or harness, a non retractable lead and, if your puppy enjoys toys, a favourite reward toy. It’s also a good idea to bring water for your puppy.

What if my puppy is nervous?

That’s perfectly okay. Every puppy develops at their own pace, and classes are designed to build confidence rather than overwhelm. We’ll work with your puppy as an individual and help them have positive experiences throughout the course.

Will my puppy get to play with the other puppies?

Learning to remain calm around other dogs is an important life skill. While there may be opportunities for carefully managed interactions where appropriate, the focus of the classes is on helping your puppy learn to engage with you and make good choices around distractions.

What happens after the puppy course?

Your puppy course is just the beginning. Many owners continue their training through my Dog Training & Life SkillsTrick TrainingScent Work or Agility classes, allowing their dogs to keep learning and developing as they grow.

As a first time dog owner we needed help and advice regarding all aspects of dog training. When we first met Christine, we did lots of 1:1 sessions to help with boundaries at home and outside, loose lead walking and recall and off lead work. We have been using Christine’s services for two years now and will continue to do so. We couldn’t recommend her enough and thank her for all the ongoing help and support that she offers.
